Have You Heard about Wheelchair Transports in American Campuses?
People in the United States have become more aware of the needs of handicap individuals and a wheelchair transport among campuses is a good example of the increased awareness. As you can see, campuses have become more advanced every year with additions like wireless internet access and removal of room telephones since most students already have a cell phone. Another positive addition is the improvement of handicap access in the campuses. You can argue that campuses have had handicap access since many years ago, but actually it is only recently that it can be considered fully accessible. Perhaps all class buildings already have elevators so students can go to any classes easily, but other buildings may not have ramp accesses for wheelchairs. However, if a building is renovated, normally handicap access is one of the major concerns. This is indeed a good trend as more campuses across the country and around the world focus to provide a wheelchair transport. The awareness of American people to provide access for people in wheelchairs is one of great things in this nation. If you go to Europe, many of the buildings can be accessed only by stairways, which obviously cannot be accessed by wheelchair users. This fact does not indicate that more students in American campuses need ramp access as compared to other countries, but it indicates that American campuses are more willing to accommodate all students, including the handicap ones. Some campuses also provide wheelchair transports by providing vans and drivers to transport students in wheelchair from one building to another. They have a network of wheelchair transports that really help students to travel among the classes, especially if the distance is quite far away. Campuses have arranged this service as convenient as possible with drivers who can help the students as well. Therefore, nowadays wheelchair transports are not limited only to ramps or elevators, but they have included vans that go around campuses. Some say that America is the land of freedom and opportunity. A wheelchair transport on campuses is a good example that America is fighting for the freedom and the needs of handicap people. Other buildings have started to follow the steps taken by campuses across the nation. In fact, since campuses are the pioneer of a wheelchair transport design, other building managers have followed campus designs in providing this service for their buildings.
